Course overview
The Code Européen des Voies de Navigation Intérieure (CEVNI) is the code governing navigation on the interconnected European inland waterways. Signs, rules and procedures for navigating many of the European inland waterways are all included within the CEVNI. Passing the ICC CEVNI test simply allows the Inland category on your ICC to be validated.
Course duration: Learn the CEVNI regulations in your own time, at your own speed before taking the timed test online.
You will be tested on:
- Signs, signals and buoyage
- Lights and shapes used by vessels to show their type and status
- Sound signals such as whistles and acoustic warnings
- Lock procedures
- Byelaws governing speed restrictions, safe anchoring, and environmental requirements
Prerequisites
- None. However, CEVNI is a recommended accompanying qualification to the RYA Powerboat Level 2
- Minimum age: While there is no minimum age for the CEVNI test, you cannot apply for an ICC below the age of 16.
What you’ll achieve
CEVNI certificate. Required for the ICC inland waterways endorsement.
