Why BM Training
We exist to keep people water safe. Not by making water feel frightening, but by making the right training easy to find and easy to access, whether that's your first afternoon on a boat or your team's next compliance deadline.
Trusted by major organisations across the UK, we deliver training that helps hundreds of operatives work safely on, in and around water every year. We hold RYA, RLSS UK and HSE accreditation, and offer DEFRA aligned training where it's the right fit. Every course is designed to give you exactly the level of knowledge and practical skills you need.
What We Do
We deliver health and safety and powerboat training for people working near, on or in water, alongside RYA leisure courses for anyone who wants to get more out of their time on the water.
From training individual boat owners to delivering large-scale programmes for water management companies and other organisations with teams working in high-risk environments, every course is grounded at our facilities in real conditions. Our nationwide training sites provide access to coastal, river and inland waters, giving delegates genuinely hands-on experience that prepares them for the environments they'll actually encounter.

Simon Cooper
MD
With a background in the merchant navy, Simon leads Bristol Maritime's strategic direction and growth. His deep knowledge of coastal, tidal and inland waterways, combined with nearly a decade driving the business forward, positions the company as the UK's leading provider of water safety solutions.
Matt Barnes
Commercial Manager
Matt's passion for teaching on water took him around the world before moving into timber and construction, supplying major UK companies. He combines his on-water knowledge with commercial expertise to drive new business development, identifying opportunities and building relationships across all sectors.
Katherine Barnard
Operations Manager
With extensive outdoor industry experience, Kat manages all Bristol Maritime operations. As a highly qualified instructor in water safety, first aid and powerboating, she leads the team with meticulous precision, ensuring every project is delivered by the right operative with the correct expertise.
