Course overview
First aid from a boating perspective, covering the emergencies you actually face on the water. This course meets the first aid requirements for RYA Commercial Endorsement and Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster practical exams. This course is aimed at anyone who gets afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries, or cross-channel passages. Immediate action in an emergency at sea can save lives.
Course duration: 1 day
What you’ll learn
- CPR including the drowning protocol
- Recovery position in a confined space
- Cold shock and hypothermia
- Seasickness and dehydration
- Helicopter rescue procedures
- Summoning medical assistance by VHF
